Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Pheucticus ludovicianus

Montrose Point, Lincoln Park, Chicago
Cook County, IL
24 April 2006

This Rose-breasted Grosbeak was the first of the spring in Lincoln Park in 2006. This is about four or five days ahead of the typical arrival date for the species. In 1990, John Purcell saw a Rose-breasted Grosbeak on 25 April, which is the next earliest date that I could find in a quick, cursory check of records that are easily accessible to me.

These photos were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 4500 camera, handheld to my Bausch and Lomb Elite (8x42) binoculars.
