On 2 May 2004
nine Piping Plovers visited Montrose Beach. They were present for
much of that Sunday morning, allowing many birders to get a view.
Here is one of the group of nine.
Most of the
time the plovers stayed in the middle of the beach, occasionally relocating
when dogs or beach walkers approached. Here are eight of the nine
arranged on the beach.
The birds
were also able to take refuge in the dune grass near or in the fenced-off
natural area at the east end of Montrose Beach.
