Little Gull
Larus minutus

North Point Park, Sheboygan

2 June 2013

Chris Williamson, myself (Geoff Williamson), and Jose Aveja travelled up to Sheboygan to look for Little Gulls on 2 June 2013. We found five of them there. Here are some of the photos I took.

Here is the first Little Gull we spotted, standing on the beach..

This photo is a little blurry, but I wanted to show the wing pattern.

Here are two Little Gulls standing near each other, with a Bonaparte's Gull in the left foreground..

The same two birds are shown here, with another Bonaparte's Gull for comparison in the right foreground.

A different shot of the same two birds.

Yet another shot, again of these two birds.

Here is a fourth Little Gull, in here amongst the many Bonaparte's Gulls.

A closer look at that individual, in the middle of a group of Bonaparte's Gulls.

The gulls took flight and I captured this image. Which one is the Little Gull?

A close-up of the Little Gull in flight.

Here is another flight shot. Take your time and find the Little Gull. When you're done, scroll down further for a closer look.

The Little Gull is a little blurry when we zoom in, but we can see clearly the different wing pattern, lacking the dark trailing edge, and showing a blacker bar across the inner wing.
