Remarks: Found by Ethan Gyllenhaal and John Kuenzli on 31 May 2024 at Illinois Beach State Park's North Unit. Presumably the same bird was relocated five days after the original sighting by Matt Tobin at the Johns Mansville Ponds in Waukegan, about six miles south of the original location. The bird was observed at this latter location during 5-7 June 2024. The only other Snowy Plover reported in the upper Midwest during May/June 2024 was a bird at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Benzie County, Michigan during 2-3 June 2024. Though the dates don't overlap with the Illinois sightings, photographs seem to show that this was a different bird.
