Location: Dixon Waterfowl Refuge (Putnam Co, 6-7 August 2023), Chautauqua National Wildlife Refuge (Mason Co, 8-31 August 2023 and 11-12 September 2023), Lacy Ditch (Fulton Co, 10 September 2023), Spring Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area (Tazewell Co, 18-25 September 2023)

Number of birds: one
Remarks: Found by Amy Nash Jones and Anthony Jones at Dixon Waterfowl Refuge, where it was present through 7 Aug 2023. On 8 Aug 2023, David B. Johnson, Andy Sigler, and Al Stokie found a spoonbill down river at Chautauqua NWR, while the Dixon Waterfowl Refuge was no longer being seen there. These sightings are presumed to pertain to the same individual. The bird continued to be seen in Mason Co. through 31 Aug 2023, but then disappeared. It was relocated on 10 Sep 2023 in nearby Fulton County and was back at Chautauqua NWR the next two days. After that, the bird was found on 18 Sep 2023 up river at Spring Lake SFWA in Tazewell County.
