IORC Record 2012.024Black-bellied Whistling-Duck Springfield, Sangamon Co, first seen approximately 18 July 2012 and last seen 29 July 2012. One bird found by Wayne and Cathy Belcher in a subdivision retention basin at the intersection of W Iles Avenue and Meadowbrook Road on the west side of Springfield. It was seen and photographed by H. David Bohlen 26 July 2012 at about 11:00am (four photos). Bohlen noted in an IBET post that "The adult bird had no bands and both hind toes were present.... The wings were also intact (not clipped) and it was seen in flight." Rhetta Jack via IBET and Birdnotes posts reported the bird as having been seen on 26 July 2012. Jim Mordacq photographed it on 27 July 2012 (10 photos), and Andrew Aldrich in an IBET post stated it was seen 28 July 2012. D. James Mountjoy saw it there 29 July 2012, and Dave Bohlen saw it again that day as well.
