Remarks: This sighting is noted in Bruce G. Peterjohn's Middlewestern Prairie Region seasonal report for Spring 1984 in American Birds (v.38, n.5, p.918) citing documentation by P. Bauer. Peterjohn states, "The 3 Ruff reports [this plus one each from Ohio and Indiana] were normal for spring...." H. David Bohlen includes this sighting in his Ruff summary in The Birds of Illinois (Indiana University Press, 1989).
