Remarks: This photograph was labelled in the archives with date 29 July 1979 and photographer Richard Biss. However, per American Birds vol. 33 no. 6 p. 368, Richard Biss documented a Curlew Sandpiper at Lake Calumet, Cook County on 22 July 1979 that was last noted 26 July 1979 by Larry Balch, and Larry Balch documented a Curlew Sandpiper at the Chicago Metropolitan Sanitary District plant, Cook County on 29 July 1979. There possibly is some confusion with the labeling of this photograph. For the moment, at least, we will assign this record 1979-008 with the sanitation plant bird.
