Hermit Thrush, juvenile
Catharus guttatus

Jarvis Migratory Bird Sanctuary
Lincoln Park in Chicago
Cook County, IL
9 October 2005

I took these (pretty crummy) photos of a juvenile Hermit Thrush at the Jarvis Bird Sanctuary in Chicago's Lincoln Park. I can't recall having ever seen a juvenile Hermit Thrush in Chicago, and the date seems late for one to be retaining juvenal plumage.

Although the photos are not too good, you can at least see that the bird is a Hermit Thrush and that many of the feathers on the upperparts have large, buffy tips.

These photos were taken with a Coolpix 4500 hand-held to a pair of Bausch & Lomb Elite 8x42 binoculars.
